Welcome to XMom.Net!

The place for pregnant people and new Moms everywhere.

XMom.Net’s Purpose

This web site is dedicated to providing a helpful, friendly place welcoming women on their pregnancy and postpartum journey, whether first or fifth baby.

This web site is also here for the spouses and families of the pregnant and postpartum mothers, as well as anyone else interested in the topic because they may, too, one day become a new Mom.

Our articles will present material at an advanced level starting with quick basics. That means this platform is suitable for women with no knowledge of the topics at hand, as well as medical professionals with degrees and licenses in fields working with these specialized populations.

We have formed this new site with great care and forethought. There has been a trend in recent years, since the advent of monolithic “Web 2.0” platforms, for smaller independently-operated web sites and small community forums to slowly disappear. It’s a saddening development, and we aim to do our part to revitalize and de-centralize the Internet by making this site spectacular! So,we’re using WordPress, the classic of classic Content Management Systems.

We are hoping for a vibrant pregnancy and postnatal women’s online community. Right now, all we have operating is the Comment Section. If we get a lot of feedback, perhaps one day soon we will also have a forum.

We will be very active here.

We aim to publish articles based on the latest science, as well as personal accounts of postpartum and pregnant women. We may do product reviews.  We have many plans and plan to make them actualized! 🙂

We support 100% evidence-based pregnancy and postnatal care only. At the same time, clearly marked “Personal Stories” help provide a human element.

What’s In A Name? Why X Mom?

Our name means a lot to us. We were blessed to find a 4-letter domain name like this.

Of course, the $20 we paid for the auction  we won was just for the chance to really buy the domain, for a price near  $50K, give or take a little bit. Was it all worth it? Of course. The “X” is symmetrical. The “mom” is symmetrical. It’s really graphically amazing.

“X” Is considered the most “cool” letter right now. Everything you can think of can be found with at least one major a brand using the letter X.

It’s futuristic. It’s catchy.

The “X” represents the unknown variables that make your own pregnancy journey unique.

Literally, that’s our perspective and what we’re all about. Rumor has it (cannot be confirmed or verified) that Elon Musk himself once owned this very domain, and that we have it now because he’s very pro-family, and he decided we’re  probably the best-suited owners for a website with those same values. Who knows?

It’s a fun part of our start-up legend.

Start-up as in “start-up”? Well, not exactly.

While this may cost a bit to operate and initially set-up, it’s all for fun, meaning growth, friendship, and learning in harmony. We are not trying to get ads or be the next “Big Thing.” That’s exactly the point. We want to normalize smaller communities on the Internet once again.

The “X” In The Formula Is Your Set of Unique Life Variables

Every women has a different perinatal experience, and the same  woman having multiple birth experiences over the years will usually find that  every pregnancy is vastly different from the other. The “X’ means that we should keep in mind that our pregnancy and postpartum journeys will be unique.

We can compare notes. We can assist one another.

But in the end, we will be awed at just how different each pregnancy experience can be.
